HTC Desire: A Stunning Superphone from HTC

HTC announce its latest super-phone ‘Desire‘ at Mobile World Congress and its already making news around the globe. This announcement is also interesting as Google recently launched its first phone Nexus One few weeks back and somehow HTC Desire looks like a twin sister of the Nexus One that HTC makes for Google. In design and specifications, both handsets are very similar, but there are some minor differences that put Desire a level ahead than Nexus One.


The stunning looking  Desire uses 1Ghz. Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and offers 576 MB of RAM compared to 512 of the Nexus One. It also has a screen WVGA (480 × 800) capacitive multitouch AMOLED 3.7 “and an optical trackpad instead of the mechanical ball in Nexus One. Desire also offers HTC sense over the Android 2.1 os.

How To Create Filters/Folders in Gmail

Gmail is one of the most popular email program from Google. Gmail allows user to customize its interface in varieties of ways. This article explains how to manage incoming emails using filters in Gmail. Filter can be used to automatically label, delete, archive, forward your email or keep it under a specific label, similar to folders in outlook or other traditional email services.  Filters can be created based on sender, recipients, subject etc.

Steps to create a filter:

  • Launch your Gmail application
  • Click on ‘Create a filter’ link , next to the Search the Web button at the top of Gmail page.

Filters in Gmail

  • Enter the criteria you like to filter your emails with, for e.g. if you like to filter all the emails coming from, enter this email in from field. Similarly you can create a filter using a ‘TO’ email address, Subject or any word in the email content.
  • Once you done entering the require filter criteria, click on test search to verify that the emails you were trying to filter show up in the test search. If you have enter the filter criteria accurately, you will see all the matching emails in the test search results, otherwise try tweaking you filter criteria.
  • Once you confirm filtering criteria click on the “Next Step” button.

Filters in Gmail

    • Here you have to define the action Gmail should take on the emails that will matches the filter criteria. For e.g. if you want to forward all the emails you receive from to another email address select the option ‘Forward To’ and enter the email address.
    • Similarly you can choose a variety of actions. To create a virtual folder in Gmail select the first option ‘ (Archive it)’ this will remove all the email that matches your filter from inbox. Now select the option ‘Apply the label’ and either choose a label or define a new label. This will create a virtual folder in Gmail with the label name you choose and every email that matches the filter criteria will go under that label and it will not be visible in Inbox.
    • If you’d like to apply this filter to emails already in Gmail, select the Also apply filter to x conversations below check box.
    • Click on Create Filter and we are done.

    How To Configure TiltViewer For Picasa

    TiltViewer is an amazing 3D flash image viewing app, its a free and fully customizable application for photo galleries. TiltViewer can be configured from Flickr. You can also create XML Gallery. Configuring TiltViewer form Flicker and other sources are explained here in detail. They have recently launched TiltViewer template for Picasa, that’s makes it extremely easy to create TiltViewer galleries from Picasa desktop application.


    To configure TiltViewer for Picasa, follow these steps.
    – Make sure you have Picasa installed in you system if not download from here, its a free software By Google.
    Download TiltViewer Template for Picasa
    - Go the directory where Picasa is installed and unzip the TiltViewer file in web/templates directory.
    for e.g. if Picasa is installed in ‘C:\Program Files\Google\Picasa3′ which is default location, unzip TiltViewer files in C:\Program Files\Google\Picasa3\web\templates’
    That’s all required to configure TiltViewer for Picasa.
    Now to create TiltViewer gallery:
    – Open Picasa
    – Select the image you want for include in the Gallery
    – From Folder Menu select ‘Export as HTML Page…’
    – Select size, title and location and click next
    – Picasa will ask you to select web page template, select ‘TiltViewer’ from the list.
    – Select Finish and your are good to go.
    Picasa will create bunch of pages at the location you selected, copy the folder to your web directory to have this super cool 3D Gallery in your blog.
